The Henry County Sheriff’s Department Reserve Division is comprised of a group of men and women who donate their time to the citizens of Henry County. These hard working individuals initially purchase much of their own uniforms and equipment, only to work many events for which they receive no personal compensation. These deputies have regular jobs, most in non-law enforcement related fields. Their dedication is often unmatched.

Reserve Deputies have the same powers (while on duty) and responsibility as their full-time counterparts.  Duties include patrol, responding to emergency and non-emergency calls for service, enforcing traffic laws, and performing duties relating to police-community relations. Reserve Deputies work special events, which include, but are not limited to, area fairs, various festivals throughout the county, and many school related and sporting events. Money received for working these events is in the form of a donation, which is placed into a restricted account that allows the Reserve Division to fund much of its equipment and activities. The Reserve Division has an authorized strength of 25 deputies and the number often fluctuates.

The Reserve Division has an internal chain of command, consisting of a Captain and four sergeants, with an assigned squad of deputies he or she supervises. Reserve Division Deputies report to the Reserve Unit Coordinator, who also serves as a liaison between this volunteer unit and the Sheriff.

If you or your organization requires the services of the Reserve Division, please contact Sheriff Baker or Sgt. James Goodwin, the Reserve Unit Coordinator.
